My first official read for 2026. Zoey goes on a fun adventure retracing her mother's diary. Her diary laid out a journey she went on following a David Bowie 1972 tour. This book had me laughing at the quirky characters and the mishaps that she had along the way. Her journey was filled with a family secret, unexpected love and healing. It's a quick read and would be good for young adults.

When I first started reading this I wasn't sure I was going to like Poppy's character. She really grew on me as the book went on and found that her character was relatable.  This was a funny, feel good rom-com with a very slow burn with little spice. It went back and forth from different trips they took, but was not hard to follow all of them. I'm looking forward to watching the movie. It is now one of my favorite romantic comedy's that I have read.

This was a great retelling of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn told from James (Jim) perspective. The author does not sugar coat the brutality of slavery and the experiences that Jim went through. It's a great read and I highly recommend reading it.

This book was about racial injustice, love and sacrifice. This book follows a boy name Bird that is wondering where his mother went after 10 years. For a decade their lives have been governed to preserve the American Culture and people that wanted to be unpatriotic were removed. Authorities removed children of dissidents and books were removed that seemed to be unpatriotic. Bird ends up going on a journey to find his mother. This book was excellent and is probably in my top 5 favorites right now. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book took me a while to really get into it. It switched so much from fairy tale to real life. Elsa has quite the imagination with her grandmother. Her crazy grandma would tell her all kinds of fairy tales. When her grandma passes away Elsa finds all kinds of letters in different places to deliver to the people that her Grandma wronged throughout life. This is a story about life and death and being different than others. I ended up really liking this book towards the end. It had a beautiful ending.
